The Betterment Society Returns

Spring 2014

After nearly two years’ absence, The Betterment Society has been resurrected. No longer are books our only concern. Instead we seek cultural advancement across a range of artistic fields. Once a quarter a new quintet of subjects will be chosen: a book, an album, a poet, an artist and a film.

For our first selection we shall be considering:

The Road by Cormac McCarthy

The works of Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio

The Take Off and Landing of Everything by Elbow

Psycho (1960), directed by Alfred Hitchcock

The poems of Samuel Taylor Coleridge
